These Terms of Use govern your use of the Homefound mobile app and the website at homefoundproject.org (together, the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to these terms.
1. What Homefound is
Homefound runs a shared, transparent donation pool — the So-Cal Community Pool. Donors contribute to the pool; screened community advocates allocate pooled funds to on-the-ground needs for neighbors experiencing homelessness across Southern California. Verified caseworkers are a goal we are building toward. Homefound operates as a charitable project under Fiscal Sponsorship Allies, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor (EIN 85-0839183). Tax-deductible gifts for Homefound are accepted by Fiscal Sponsorship Allies, Inc. via the Mazlo donation portal (Homefound’s only donation option); receipts for deductible gifts are issued by Allies, not by Park Place Agency LLC.
2. Gifts are pool contributions, not purchases
- Your gift is a contribution to the managed community pool, not a purchase of a specific item for a specific person.
- Organizers and caseworkers retain discretion (“variance power”) over how pooled funds are deployed day to day, so urgent needs can be met.
- Homefound does not hand out street cash directly to neighbors; funds are deployed to goods, services, or vetted providers by organizers/caseworkers.
- Donors may receive categorical deployment alerts (for example “$150 toward Emergency Dog Care”), not itemized personal receipts or case details, to protect neighbor privacy and dignity.
- Gifts are completed on Mazlo’s donation form (one-time, monthly, quarterly, or annual).
3. How payments work
The Homefound app does not collect payment card or bank information on-device. Donate buttons open your device’s system browser so you can complete the gift on homefoundproject.org/donate (Mazlo tax-deductible portal — Homefound’s only donation option). Mazlo processes your payment under its own terms. Refund requests must go through the platform where you completed the transaction. Contact Support before disputing a charge with your bank.
4. Accounts, passport, and badges
Some features require a signed-in account (for example Me passport, gift tracking, digests, or staff portals). You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. Homefound may suspend access that appears abusive or unsafe. Me passport fields and badges (including Founders and Pool donor when a gift is linked) are supporter identity surfaces — not a claim of nonprofit membership or tax status.
5. Neighbor privacy
Neighbors are shown publicly by first name only. We do not publish addresses, contact details, or clinical/case information about neighbors, and we do not support direct donor-to-neighbor messaging within the app. See our Privacy Policy for data practices.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use the Services to harass neighbors, organizers, or caseworkers; to submit false information about a neighbor’s needs; to claim another person’s Stripe receipt without authorization; or to circumvent the privacy protections built into the transparency feed and staff tools.
7. Demo vs Live data
The app may include a Demo preview mode with sample numbers. Live mode shows real pilot data and your linked gifts. Demo content is for illustration only and is not a record of actual donations.
8. No warranty
The Services are provided “as is.” Homefound is an early-stage community project and does not guarantee that any specific need will be funded or that the app or website will be uninterrupted or error-free.
9. Changes
We may update these Terms as the Services evolve. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
10. Contact
